I was commissioned to produce a series of promotional films for the University of Puerto Rico Conservation Program and the San Juan Historic Site, part of the U.S. National Park System. The goal was to attract prospective conservation students while creating compelling educational content that honored the fort’s historical and cultural legacy.
Working in close collaboration with conservator César Piñeiro and photographer Isabel Schaefer, I directed, filmed, wrote, and edited three short films — one broad promotional piece showcasing the site’s patrimony, and two documenting the intricate conservation of historic cannons and munitions. The project required deep research, field coordination, and visual storytelling that balanced accuracy with emotion.
The final series elevated visibility for the San Juan Historic Site, deepened public understanding of its heritage, and inspired a new generation of conservators to study and work in Puerto Rico.
